Thankfulness is the Greatest Virtue

Soul Quotes

These are helpful for me to put things in perspective and I’m thankful for them :)

————————

A thankful heart is not only the greatest virtue, but the parent of all other virtues.  – Marcus Tullius Cicero

Saying thank you is more than good manners. It is good spirituality. – Alfred Painter

It is impossible to feel grateful and depressed in the same moment. – Naomi Williams

If we fill our hours with regrets over the failures of yesterday, and with worries over the problems of tomorrow, we have no today in which to be thankful.

There is a calmness to a life lived in Gratitude, a quiet joy. – Ralph H. Blum

Some people are always grumbling because roses have thorns; I am thankful that thorns have roses.

There’s always something to be thankful for. If you can’t pay your bills, you can be thankful you’re not one of your creditors.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  Paul of Tarsus

Thanks.- Jesus

3 x 15″ Count Your Blessings

Workouts

3 x 15″ Counting Your Blessings

What do you have to be thankful for?  List down as many things as you can in three “rounds” of 15 minute separate sessions through the week.  Notes:

  • must be 15″ consecutive minutes (i.e. not 5 min. here and 7 min. there)
  • must be exclusive (i.e. not a part of another task like driving, cleaning, etc)
  • must be recorded (written/typed) during the 15 minutes

(e.g. Monday, Wed, Friday for 15″ each day)

**edit** A couple of questions and interesting points have come up from people trying this.  First, to clarify, each 15″ session should conclude with a different list so you’re not copying a previous one.  I don’t think you need to get obsessive so a couple of inadvertent repeats wouldn’t be bad.

Also, in practice, don’t try and focus only on  “deep” things.  It’s ok to start more at the surface and let yourself dive deeper or vice versa.  Think of it maybe as more of a Gratitude Brainstorm.
